From the East:

What an outstanding day we had with our Bazaar Luncheon and Fashion Show. Estrella Chapter has the best workers, hands down. Love you all for your efforts to make this one we can be proud of. A lot of work went into finalizing this project and so many of you spent hours of your time. To each of you my heart felt thanks.
To Beth Martin, chairman, you made it all happen. Your organizing capacity shines through. You can put a star in your (Red) hat. To Suzann Wallace and your
crew, the luncheon was delicious as I knew it would be. To the members who worked the different booths we all thank you. It takes many hands to make this happen.
We are saddened by the passing of our Sister, Barbara Holmes, late Saturday after taking Clara Temple home from the luncheon. We will miss her. God must have
needed another secretary to take his minutes.
We have Guest Nights coming up April 7th in Fallbrook for Sentinel and April 25th at Star of the East for Electa and Flag Bearer. Be sure to call if you need
transportation to chapter. There are several members willing to pick up others so let us know.
Lets all keep trying to recruit new members. We need new ideas and fresh enthusiasm.
Don’t forget to join us at our Friendship Circle meetings the second Tuesday of every month. There is a lunch served at noon. The Cancer Dressing Station is open
for business before Friendship Circle and they can use all the hands you have offer. Bring a friend.
Star Love,
Peggy

"America, America, God shed his grace on thee..."

You ask me Why I Love Her? Well, give me time and I'll explain. Have you seen a Kansas sunset or an Arizona rain? Have you drifted on a bayou down Louisiana way? Have you watched a cold fog drifting over San Francisco Bay? Have you heard a bobwhite calling in the Carolina pines? Or heard the bellow of a diesel at the Appalachia mines? Does the call of Niagara thrill you when you hear her waters roar? Do you look with awe and wonder at her Massachusetts shore? Where men who braved a hard new world first stepped on Plymouth's rock? And do you think of them when you stroll along a new York City dock? Have you seen a snowflake drifting in the Rockies, way up high? Have you seen the sun come blazing down from a bright Nevada sky? Do you hail to the Columbia as she rushes to the sea? Or bow your head at Gettysburg at our struggle to be free? Have you seen the mighty Tetons? Have you watched an eagle soar? Have you seen the Mississippi roll along Missouri's shore? Have you felt a chill at Michigan, when on a winter's day, her waters rage along the shore in thunderous display? Does the word "Aloha" make you warm? Do you stare in disbelief when you see the surf come roaring in at Waimea Reef? From Alaska's cold to the Everglades, from the Rio Grande to Maine, my heart cries out, my pulse runs fast, at the might of her domain. You ask me Why I Love Her? I've a million reasons why: My Beautiful America, beneath God's wide, wide sky. "And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."
Written by John Mitchum and recited by John Wayne in a song many years ago. I heard this done by Charlie Daniels on the way home from our Guest Night and thought I would share it with you. God Bless America.

From the South

WOW ! What a wonderful Luncheon Bazaar. It was a day full of sunshine and smiling faces. We had a packed room including several “Red Hat Chapters” that added to the colorful day.
Suzann Wallace and her committee provided a delicious lunch that was served by our gracious Hostesses. The dining room was decorated with white table cloths,
with colorful floral arrangements made by Marion Harris, Marilyn Sardo and Shirley McIntyre, and the arrangements were for sale. Following lunch we were treated to a Fashion Show by Sue Burgess with fashions from “Draper’s and Damon’s”. Evelyn de la Rosa provided beautiful background music for our lovely models, Peggy Parker, Barbara Marsh, Donna Bynum, Mae Ella Owens, Mary Weaver and Tarin Runyon.
Sue Burgess showed us Outfits for Brunch, Lunch, Dining and Dancing. The soft fabrics and colors were luscious. The Nautical Outfits looked great on our
models and are perfect whether shopping or sailing.
My sincere Thanks to my Chairmen: Suzann Wallace, Suzanne Schneider, Olivia Martinez, Barbara Marsh, Betty Birdsell, Ruth Covalt, Lucille Fleishman, Joan
Ramsey, Barbara Brower, Mary Weaver, Don Baker, Annette Draper, Rochelle Hogan, and Patricia Maxwell. I saw Scarlet Smith, Stephanie Schneider and Kathie Theener in the kitchen along with several other members during the day and on Friday evening.
Peggy Parker had the stage decorated like a spring garden, including a live bird. It was a very successful day and my sincere Thanks to those who worked so hard,
including the clean-up crew. Shirley McIntyre, Marilyn Sardo, Debra Olmstead and Russ Miller, who are not members of Estrella, also pitched right in and helped. Ed Bennett, Harry Weaver, Don Baker and George Martin, my special Thanks to you.
A very special thank you to our daughter, Debbie and our granddaughter Rochelle who worked the Mystery, Basket and Silent Auction tables. They also helped
setup and clean-up. Thank you girls, what would I do without you? They took in over $400.00.
Last, but not least, Thank You to our members who sold and bought tickets - without YOU this wouldn’t have been such a successful event. You “Done” Good !
Star Love,
Beth Martin, PM
