Shortly after becoming a Master Mason and with the encouragement of two truly wonderful people, Fern and Charlie Yenney, Coren and his wife joined San Diego Chapter #264. They were initiated together on January 17, 1984. They were fairly active for a time and Tobi took the office of Esther for a term. They became inactive members, but as Coren's involvement with Myrtle Assembly at East San Diego Lodge increased considerably, he applied for membership and joined both East San Diego Lodge and Estrella Chapter, demitting from San Diego Chapter. After a period of inactivity, Coren started attending more frequently and with the encouragement of the Chapter and especially Beth and George Martin, ended up being Chaplain for two terms. Somewhere along the line Peggy Parker asked him to go to the East with her. He said ok and has become an active member. A term as Worthy Patron in 2001 was followed by additional duties in the West. He served as Worthy Patron in 2006 and continued that position for another year, sitting in the East as Worthy Patron in 2007. He served as Chaplain again in 2008 and continued as Chaplain in 2009. Currently Coren is serving as Associate Matron once again. |
